The Cabin on Hunter Bay

A Log Home Restoration Rooted in Love

The restoration of Cabin on Hunter Bay was more than a renovation — it was a labor of love, driven by memory, legacy, and healing. The cabin, originally built by Elisha and Shiloh’s grandfather, had been left to deteriorate, with nature slowly reclaiming what once was a beloved family retreat. After the passing of Elisha’s father — whose dream had always been to bring the cabin back to life — the project became deeply personal.

Together, Elisha, her brother, and husband set out to accomplish what many considered impossible: to restore a structure that was quite literally falling into the earth. The roof had nearly caved in, the decks were decayed beyond use, and the only occupants were rodents, bats, termites, and the remnants of time.

The six-month restoration began with the grueling task of removing five layers of shingles to make way for a new metal roof. From there, the team re-chinked logs, sandblasted surfaces, and rebuilt four major decks. Where small windows once offered a limited view of the bay, a new 10-foot sliding glass door was installed, opening to a breathtaking view deck that fully embraces the natural beauty of Hunter Bay.

Elisha managed the project from design to finish, infusing the space with rustic warmth and timeless magic — creating not just a home, but a retreat. The transformation honored the cabin’s original architecture while making it a welcoming, five-star Airbnb escape.

For Elisha and her family, the restoration was as much about remembering and healing as it was about building. Today, the cabin continues its story with new owners who cherish it just as Elisha’s family did — a living legacy nestled in the heart of Hunter Bay.
